Horizontal Plate Filter

Reverse Flow path for cleaner, zero-heel results

The Sparkler® Reverse Flow (RF) Horizontal Plate Filter combines the proven filtration superiority of the Sparkler Standard Horizontal Plate Filter with the benefit of easy maintenance due to its reverse flow design. The horizontal arrangement of the plates assures economical operation and uniform clarity by maximizing the distribution of the filter cake.

All Horizontal Filter Plate models utilize a single sealing area, are designed to ASME specifications and the filter plates are totally enclosed. The main benefits of the Sparkler Reverse Flow Horizontal Plate Filter model include zero heel, 100% product recovery, cleanest operation, low cost filter media and quick cleaning.

During operation, the reverse flow of the Sparkler RF Filter deposits all filter cake and solids in the plate cartridge or bundle. Thus, clean tank processing with only clear filtrate in the tank is achieved. By simply removing the bundle, Sparkler RF Filter can be easily and quickly cleaned.

Sparkler Reverse Flow Filters are an excellent choice for either continuous or intermittent operations. The tank inlet and plate cartridge seal is designed to provide a positive seal over a wide range of pressure differentials. A variety of filter media including paper and non-wovens can be used with the RF Filter. In addition, filter aids such as activated carbon and diatomaceous earth can be used to achieve specific process requirements without compromising flow rates. Zero heel, complete product recovery, is achieved through blow-out through the bottom feed inlet. Excels as a polishing filter.

Since the Sparkler RF Filter cartridge seals directly to the inlet nozzle of the tank, all filter cake and solids are captured in the filter plate cartridge and not in the tank. By removing a center tie rod, the Sparkler RF Filter cartridge or bundle is easily removed intact. After removal, side tie rods on the filter plate cartridge enable the plates to be easily disassembled, reassembled and replaced in one piece into the filter vessel.

Common materials of construction include 304 S.S., 316 S.S., 304 L.S.S., 316 L.S.S., Hastelloy, Carbon Steel, Nickel, Duplex, Titanium and Monel. Standard design pressure is 60 PSIG but higher design pressure is available. Models can be supplied with a jacket if required, commonly in the previously mentioned materials. Common diameters are 18" and 33" but customization is possible.

Different plate spacing is available to increase cake capacity or filter area. Wide range of finishes are available for wetted and non-wetted parts. Wide range of gasket material available including BUNA, Neoprene, EPDM, Viton, Silicone, Teflon and Teflon Encapsulated. Differential pressure and tank pressure are also customizable. Filter mounting, valves and piping, finishes, design pressure, deferential pressure, full vacuum, air vent, pressure gauge, tank ports, jacket ports and cover ports can be customized to fit your needs.
