The Original "Sparkler" Filter
The Sparkler® Standard Flow Horizontal Plate Filter (HPF) is the original "Sparkler" filter.
It is normally the most popular filter of choice for applications under 300 sq. ft. due to its versatility. Very suitable for both intermittent or batch type filtration. Offers maximum cake stability, unaffected by pressure fluctuations or process shutdown.
When supplied with scavenger feature it permits filtered blow-down of filter tank liquid contents (heel) at end of on-stream filtration process. Standard design for utilization of filter paper media but is also well suited for synthetic, wire mesh or membrane filter media. Excellent for polishing applications.

Downtime for cleaning and re-dressing of filter plate assembly normally 10-15 minutes for smaller size models and 30-45 minutes for larger units. Spare cartridge and spare bottom equipment can be purchased to significantly minimize downtime.
Horizontal Filter Plate models utilize a vertical pressure vessel with a single sealing area, are designed to ASME specifications and the filter plates are totally enclosed. In most applications, the Standard Horizontal Filter Plate is the most economic option. Maximum yield (with scavenger plate), low cost filter media and quick cleaning are a few reasons the "Sparkler" remains our hallmark model.
Applications using diatomaceous earth (DE) and activated carbon (activated charcoal) are particularly suited for this model. Common materials of construction include 304 S.S., 316 S.S., 304 L.S.S., 316 L.S.S., Hastelloy (C-276), C-22, Carbon Steel, Nickel, Titanium, Duplex and Monel. Standard design pressure is 60 PSIG but higher design pressure is available. Models can be supplied with a jacket if required, commonly in the previously mentioned materials. Common diameters are 8", 14", 18", 33" and 44" but customization is possible.
Different plate spacing is available to increase cake capacity or filter area. Wide range of finishes are available for wetted and non-wetted parts. Wide range of gasket material available including BUNA, Neoprene, EPDM, Viton, Silicone, Teflon and Teflon Encapsulated. Differential pressure and tank pressure are also customizable. Filter mounting, valves and piping, finishes, design pressure, deferential pressure, air vent, pressure gauge, tank ports, jacket ports and cover ports can be customized to fit your needs. Pressure vessels can be ASME rated for full vaccum if desired. We specialize in building custom filtration solutions to fit the needs of your specific application.
